“Walk confidently, with a calmness and a prepared mind”
Aikido is from Japan. It means “the harmonious way” and it originated as a way of protecting yourself and your attacker from injury. In aikido, the emphasis is on redirecting your attacker’s force and energy into a variety of easy throws and immobilizing joint locks. Because it requires very little physical strength, it is an martial art for seniors and others who simply want to feel safer on the streets.
